Pulse Swim Jig vs HD Swim Jig: Compare Hooks and Weights

V&M Pulse Swim Jig

The V&M Pulse Swim Jig and HD Swim Jig offer two hook designs within the Pacemaker lineup. Before choosing a color, compare the hook construction and available weights. Those differences give you a clearer starting point than selecting by appearance alone.

Pulse Swim Jig: three weight choices

The Pulse Swim Jig is available in 1/4-ounce, 3/8-ounce and 1/2-ounce weights. If you want a 1/4-ounce option from these two swim jigs, choose the Pulse.

Its custom oversized 30-degree hook is designed to support braided-line fishing. The head design directs the hook point away from cover. Together, the hook and head shape are the key design details to compare when deciding whether it fits your setup.

HD Swim Jig: a 5/0 hook and wide gap

The HD Swim Jig, designed by Cliff Pace, uses a custom 5/0 Mustad Ultra Point hook with 4x-strength construction. The hook bends upward at the line tie rather than down the shank, allowing the head to sit lower relative to the hook point and creating a wide gap.

The HD comes in 3/8-ounce and 1/2-ounce weights. Choose it when that specific hook size, strength and geometry match what you want from your jig.

How to make the comparison

First, decide which weight you want to fish. Both models offer 3/8 and 1/2 ounce, while the Pulse adds 1/4 ounce. Next, compare hook design: the Pulse uses its oversized 30-degree hook, while the HD specifies a 5/0 Mustad Ultra Point hook with a wide-gap arrangement.

Finally, open the product page and select the exact weight and color combination. Checking the selected combination matters because a product with several options may have different availability across those options.

  • Need 1/4 ounce? Choose the Pulse from this pair.
  • Want the HD's specified 5/0 hook? Choose the HD.
  • Choosing 3/8 or 1/2 ounce? Compare the hook construction and your preferred colors.
